One of the Holy City’s most notable spaces, the 501(c)3 Charleston Gaillard Center fulfills its charitable purpose by managing the 1800-seat Martha & John M. Rivers Performance Hall and the 15,000-square-foot Exhibition Hall, while also producing a vibrant Education and Community Program.
Since opening its doors in 2015, the Gaillard Center has welcomed more than 750,000 local and international guests for more than 900 events in the world-class Martha & John M. Rivers Performance Hall. Patrons have enjoyed shows from renowned artists ranging from national favorites like Jazz at Lincoln Center with Wynton Marsalis and American Ballet Theatre, to globally acclaimed classical performers including Yo-Yo Ma, Emanuel Ax, Lang Lang, and the Royal Philharmonic. Proudly, the Gaillard Center’s resident arts organizations include the exquisite Charleston Symphony and renowned Spoleto Festival USA.

The Exhibition Hall has hosted Boeing's "Above and Beyond" aerospace exhibit, the 2016 and 2020 Democratic National Presidential Primary Debates, and regularly hosts regional icons like the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition (SEWE). With tastefully appointed pre-function space, conveniently located salons, ornate lobbies, and an elegant Grand Ballroom featuring custom millwork and north-facing views of the Park & Gardens, the Center’s dedicated events, production, and catering staff guarantee bespoke and unforgettable events in the heart of landmark destination: historic Charleston, South Carolina.
The Education Program is the cornerstone of the Charleston Gaillard Center’s charitable mission. Since 2015, it has hosted more than 89,000 students, with more than 61,000 students attending free of charge, including the cost of bus transportation. Educators, artists-in-residence, and teaching artists have taught more than 1,100 in-school workshops to students throughout the Lowcountry.
